Tata Sky DTH - Is this NOT Shameless Cheating

  1. To us the Brand “TATA” means the following -
    “ Ethical Business Practices”
    “TRUTH” as propagated by Gandhiji
Brought images of Jamshedji Tata, JRD Tata and Ratan Tata in front of one’s eyes. These are the people who have all their life signified Customer Care at its Best.

    2. Alas, despite Ratan Tata having used the words “ Promise is a Promise” at the launch of the Nano, it does not seem to be happening so in the case of other Tata Group Coys. A recent case in point is the TATA SKY DTH.

    3. Out of nowhere, it decided to take off Star Sports / Star Cricket/ ESPN/ Ten Sports/ BBC World / BBC Entertainment/ Active Sports out of our already being paid for Bouquet of Channels. Just about 24 hrs notice. No intimation through any means – No E Mail, No Yellow Envelope Alert. Just an insignificant Ticker on the TV Screen run over a short period of time. It then classified tis deletions as a separate to be paid for Bouquet of Channels. .

    4. In any case, when we have already subscribed to a Package, the DTH provider just cannot change the content of the Bouquet and lay down that it has since become a separate Pay Channel. Also, this word Pay Channel is being used to hoodwink us. When we pay Rs 300.00 plus a month, as far as we are concerned, all are pay channels. What the Service Provider pays is his problem.

    5. To add insult to the Injury, they have highlighted that a corresponding amount will be reduced from the Monthly Subscription. Also, Tata Sky is trying to project as to how concerned it is about their Customers by giving them the Freedom to choose their Programmes and giving them an option to reduce their Monthly Bill.

    6. Tata Sky thinks that every-one is a Fool and will fall for such Gimmicks. Now this requires going in some detail. It would have been all-right in case the reduction in the Quantum of Subscription would have corresponded to the cost that is now required to be paid to take these Channels afresh. It is not at all so. For example, a sum of Rs 40.00. has since been reduced in the monthly subscription by Tata Sky for taking off BBC( 2 Channels), Star Sports, ESPN, Star Cricket and Ten Sports.

Now, if one has to take these Channels afresh, the following will have to be paid for -

    Star Sports/ ESPN/ Star Cricket – Rs 40.00 p.m.
    Ten Sports - - Rs 15.00 p.m.
    BBC ( 2 Channels) - Rs 30.00 p.m.

    _________________________________________-
    Total - Rs 80 .00 p.m.

This means an additional expenditure of Rs 40.00 p.m.

    7. After this Blatant Cheating, Tata Sky is claiming to be a Champion of Customer Care.

Please do not miss the following on www.tatasky.com.

“Tata Sky Ltd. reserves the right to add or drop a channel/ package/ service from any package and/or change the package rates.”

I just cannot even comprehend that A TATA Group Coy can stoop to such LOW EBBS.

Would the TRAI please step in.
Would some Consumer Organization please take it up with a Consumer Court.

Tata Sky

Tata Sky Cheating us

1. Tata Sky needs to have relook at its policies.

2. I wish to raise points as follows -

Point 1 - -

"Contact Us" - Tata Sky on their Website through their site says " " In not more than 60 words, type in your query / comment / request in the box below". 60 Words only - Tata Sky, you got to be joking.

Point 2

It had levied a charge on Neo Sports. Why should the people who have already taken the most expensive package pay for it. This was pure Arm twisting. They have further extended it to other Lifestyle Channels now. In case, they charge us for these, give us the option not to subscribe to so many we never have even heard of and are being thrust on us by Tata Sky. The Regulator needs to look into it.

Point 3

Before the Subscribers can access their On-Line Account , an On Line Form is to be filled up. Filling up of all the Columns are Mandatory which includes information which by all stretches of Imagination is not reqd to be shared with them.

The Columns include the following -
- Status of Mobile Connection - Pre Paid or Post Paid.
- Number of Children, Ages, Names.
- Items owned by the Household e.g Fridge, Washing Machine etc, etc.
- Place/s where the Subscriber watches movies.
- Number of TVs held.
- Personal habits.
- Nature of purchases made On Line by the Subscriber
- All the Above is Mandatory before a Subscriber can access his Account ON LINE. This is an absolute invasion of - - - Privacy. Definitely not expected out of a Tata Group Coy.

- Hope Tata Sky makes immediate amends. Can any Consumer Organisation help please.

Sandeep.
